  1. Air Generation: A compressor or blower creates a flow of air or gas. 
  2. Material Introduction: Materials are fed into the pipeline, either by "pushing" them with compressed air (pressure conveying) or "sucking" them with a vacuum (vacuum conveying). 
  3. Transportation: The airflow moves the material through the enclosed pipeline. 
  4. Separation: At the discharge point, a separation system, often involving filters and a dust collector, separates the material from the air.
